This tour explores Polands rich history and iconic sights, based in the wonderful city of Kraków. Discover the unspoilt city of Wroclaw, situated on the Oder River and renowned for its impressive and colourful architecture. The beautiful mediaeval city of Kraków is the base for the tour, famed for its old centre which is dominated by The Cloth Hall, as well as its poignant Jewish Quarter.
Hotel Wyspiański, Kraków is a modern 3-star hotel is located within walking distance of the historic main square and the heart of the city, including the many museums and Wawel Castle. The hotel offers comfortable rooms, a small gym, a restaurant and bar.
Day 1
Please Note: Tour pick-ups start on Monday 3rd May, with overnight travel. We journey through the UK before crossing to France and continuing through Belgium to our overnight hotel near Brussels.
Day 2
After breakfast, we continue our journey east through Germany, making suitable comfort stops along the way. Arriving at our overnight hotel near Magdeburg in time for dinner.
Day 3
We continue our journey into Poland, making suitable comfort stops along the way. Later today we arrive in Wroclaw, one of Poland's most beautiful cities, renowned for its colourful architecture, charming market square and picturesque riverside setting, where we enjoy a two-night stay.
Day 4
Today we discover the delights of Wroclaw, one of Poland's most charming and colourful cities. We begin with an included two-hour guided tour with a local step-on guide, taking in the city's highlights including the historic Old Town, impressive Gothic Cathedral and beautiful market square. Following the tour, enjoy free time to explore at your own pace. Wander through the elegant streets lined with cafés, restaurants and colourful townhouses, and keep an eye out for the city's famous bronze dwarf statues hidden throughout the streets and squares.
Day 5
Travel south to Krakôw. Enroute make a stop in the pretty town of Kazimierz Dolny. Arrive in Krakôw for a 4 night stay.
Day 6
Today we enjoy a guided walking tour of Kraków's beautiful Old Town. Comfortable footwear is recommended today. Later, we visit the remarkable Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Poland's most popular attractions. Explore a fascinating underground world of tunnels, chambers and intricate salt carvings. There are many steps to reach the magnificent Chapel of St Kinga, with plenty of interesting sights along the way. A lift is available for guests with limited mobility. As the mine remains cool throughout the year, warm clothing is recommended. Following our visit, we return to the hotel.
Day 7
Today we enjoy a full day excursion to the charming mountain resort of Zakopane, nestled at the foot of the spectacular Tatra Mountains. Enjoy free time to explore the town centre, browse the local shops or perhaps sample some traditional Polish cuisine. Later, we return to Kraków via the picturesque village of Chocho?ów, famous for its traditional wooden houses.
Day 8
After breakfast, we travel to the former Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps, now preserved as a memorial and museum. Accompanied by expert guides, we gain a moving and thought-provoking insight into the harrowing events that took place here during the Second World War. Through powerful exhibitions and personal stories, visitors are given a deeper understanding of the experiences of those imprisoned here. Following our visit, we return to Kraków with time to relax before dinner this evening.
Day 9
Today we leave Poland and travel into Germany before arriving in the beautiful city of Dresden for our overnight stay. After checking in, if time allows, enjoy some free time to explore this historic city at your own pace before our evening meal. Perhaps stroll along the banks of the River Elbe, admire the impressive architecture or relax in one of the many cafés.
Day 10
Today we continue our journey westwards through Germany and into Belgium for our overnight stay at the Novotel Brussels Airport.
Day 11
Short Channel crossing to Dover and home.
